Proofreading is Key

It can be very hard to proofread what you have written; you read what you want it to be, not what is there.

Proofreading is Key

Typing errors are easy to miss if you are trying to proofread your work, one technique is to read the text out loud. Read it slowly and without any emotion even pronounce the punctuation marks. This is a classic technique to break the voice in your head from telling you that it is right when it is wrong.

Another technique is to use a text to speech system. There are several of these online that are free to use. Listening to the computer voices read your text is a great way to proofread. One of the easiest sites I have found is http://translate.google.com/ it is very useful. You simply copy and paste a block of text into the fields and press the speaker button to hear the text.

Additionally to help you when writing content are software packages like Grammarly. We use this one and it really does help. As well as using it on your word processor, Grammarly can help in emails and websites to help check what you are doing. It isn't 100% accurate, but it is very, very good.

I strongly recommend you get someone else to read what you write, preferably someone who doesn't understand every aspect of what you do. By doing this you may also get a new perspective on how your content might seem to a potential customer.
