Protecting Your Site and Our Server

Recent high profile incidences of Cyber Attack on well-known organisations, including the New Zealand Stock Exchange have made people more aware of this activity. As responsible web hosts, we understand the growing dangers of Cyber Attack. Part of our service is to protect your site from DDoS attacks that can hurt your website and email.

One of the systems that we use to help protect websites is that we ask people to use Cloudflare to protect their domain names.

Cloudflare is a company that fights against Cyber-attacks by 'hiding' the location of your site and using its stable of nearly 200 data centres to spread the load of the internet. As a company Cloudflare process nearly 16% of the traffic on the internet.

Their service allows attacks to be identified, reacted to and the impact minimised.

The Cloudflare service is free to use.

To make the change, you need to change the name servers of your domain to use Cloudflare

There are two ways to do this.

  1. You use the Website Angels Cloudflare name servers and simply point the domain names servers at them. We can do all the settings needed to get the site live.
  2. You can set up your own Cloudflare account (it’s free) and give us access to be able to make the setting changes for you.

Either way, your site is protected.

It is best to do these changes now while we are in the early stages of building the site, in that way we can move swiftly when the site is ready to go live. If you can let us know which way you want to operate the set up of putting the site into Cloudflare, we can guide you further.
